A rich cultural program this spring in Vaudreuil-Dorion
This spring, the Ville de Vaudreuil-Dorion invites residents to take part in the various cultural activities offered by its varied and inspiring program. From captivating encounters to artistic performances and workshops, the season promises to be rich in discovery and exchange. Activities will take place in early March at Maison Félix-Leclerc, édifice de la Croisée and Opticentre St-Jean-Baptiste.
Oasis créative
From March 3 to May 31, artists Monica Brinkman, Annick Gauvreau and Nathalie Paquette will be welcoming visitors to the Oasis créative, a place for creating and sharing artistic know-how located in the edifice de la Croisée (1255, rue Émile-Bouchard). They will be on hand alternately on Mondays and Fridays, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and on Tuesdays from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Artists from the Traitdartiste group will take turns on Saturdays, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Maison Félix-Leclerc
Maison Félix-Leclerc will reopen its doors on March 7. Guided tours will be offered to the public on Fridays, between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m., and on Saturdays, between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Every Friday evening, at 7:30 p.m., Félix’s salon will be transformed to host a variety of performances: theater, music, storytelling and literature will be on the program. Jean L’Italien, Nathan Couture, Pete Fortier, Natacha Marleau, Les Philanthropes and Julie Turconi are just some of the artists scheduled to perform at La Maison this season.
Soirées-rencontres
The popular Soirées-rencontres will be back this spring, with Mariana Mazza (March 19), Gino Chouinard (April 16) and Marie-Claude Barrette (May 14) taking to the stage at the Opticentre St-Jean-Baptiste. Entertainment will be provided by Amélie Boivin Handfield and Patrick Richard.
Known for her legendary fieriness, comedian Mariana Mazza hits the road this year with her 3rd career one-woman show, Foie gras. She hosts Livre ouvert, a literary magazine on ARTV, and reprises her role as Natalia in L’Aréna (Noovo). She has also enjoyed success in film, notably with Lignes de fuite, Maria and Femme ta gueule - Le film. A multidisciplinary creator, Mariana is also an author (Montréal-Nord and Rivière-des-Prairies) and painter.
Known as the host of Salut bonjour and Salut bonjour week-end, Gino Chouinard has now passed the 30-year mark in his career. He has received the Artis award for Best Service Program Host 14 years running. An avid sportsman and art lover, Gino also donates his time to humanitarian causes. He is spokesman for the Fondation du Centre jeunesse de la Montérégie, which helps thousands of neglected, abandoned and abused children.
At the age of 50, former 2 Filles le matin host Marie-Claude Barrette took stock of her life, assigning a theme to each decade. Her talk invited the audience to analyze their own journey.
Passeport culturel
The introductory program to various artistic disciplines will take place on Wednesdays April 23, April 30, May 7 and May 14. New this spring: the workshops will take place in the afternoon, but also in the evening, and are open to citizens aged 16 and over. On the menu: introduction to the art of textile felting with Marjolein Dallinga, introduction to photography with Christian Gonzalez, glass painting with Jade Cousineau and À la découverte du cadavre exquis (collective artistic work) with Monica Brinkman and Annick Gauvreau. Workshops will be held at the edifice de la Croisée. Interested parties can register online or by phone starting April 2, 9 a.m. Note that it is no longer necessary to commit to attending all four meetings.
“This spring program illustrates our desire to offer all citizens free access to a wide range of cultural activities. Whether through inspiring encounters, performances or creative workshops, there’s something for everyone. We invite the public to take full advantage,” said Vincent Bastien, Director of Service des loisirs et de la culture of the Ville de Vaudreuil-Dorion.
All activities are free and do not require registration, with the exception of the cultural passport. For more information, people are invited to consult the Réseau Mozaïk agenda, dedicated to culture, at jesuismozaik.com.
