The City of Vaudreuil-Dorion inaugurates the Parc-école des Quatre-Saisons

Yesterday, in the presence of local residents, students attending the daycare service at École de l’Hymne-au-Printemps and representatives of the Centre de services scolaires des Trois-Lacs, the Ville de Vaudreuil-Dorion officially inaugurated its Parc-école des Quatre-Saisons, which underwent a major redevelopment over the past year.

As its name suggests, the parc-école is as much a municipal park as it is a play area for the students of École primaire des Légendes. It is located in the quadrilateral bounded by Émile-Bouchard, Phil-Goyette and Toe-Blake streets, adjacent to the Hymne-au-Printemps and des Légendes schools, as well as to the Croisée building, home to community organizations providing services to clients of all generations.

“I’m proud to be with you today for the inauguration of this school park, designed from the outset to encourage interaction between citizens of all generations. Located in the most densely populated sector of Vaudreuil-Dorion, right next to our future municipal hub, it meets the needs of elementary school, local families, people living in seniors’ residences and users of the La Croisée building,” declared Mayor Guy Pilon.

Totaling an investment of $3.2 million, the redevelopment project includes the installation of universally accessible playground equipment and street furniture (tables, benches, swings, etc.), the development of pathways with lighting linking the various areas together, some portions of which are defined by playful, colorful ground markings, the enhancement of the main entrance to the La Croisée building and the redevelopment of the parking area. Shaded areas have also been provided, notably near the water feature. To encourage active transportation in this area, numerous bike racks and others specifically adapted for scooters have been integrated into the project. The school park is the first on the territory to host a futtoc table, an oval table very similar to a ping-pong table, but whose players must pass a soccer ball made of a very light material over the net, as well as a basketball tree. This autumn, the final phase of development will involve the planting of over 200 coniferous and deciduous trees.
